Training partners

We also deliver training for other organisations both in the UK and internationally. Often our international training is organised through a regional publishers’ association, so if yours might be interested in working with us, do contact them – or us – to suggest it. Here are a few of the partners we’re working with at the moment.

UK and Ireland

The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP)

ALPSP’s stated mission is: ‘to connect, train and inform the scholarly and professional publishing community and to be an advocate on behalf of the non-profit publishing sector’. Rachel Maund runs Introduction to Journals Marketing for ALPSP, and with Paul Crabtree, How to Make Content More Discoverable through SEO.

Publishing Ireland (The Irish Book Publishers’ Association)

‘We support book publishers by working as a network to deliver projects, promotions, training, expertise, forums, advocacy, information sharing and general representation.’
If you’re based in Ireland and would like to see one or more Marketability training days scheduled this year, get in touch with Stephanie Lawless, (

Publishing Scotland

The network, trade and development body for book publishing in Scotland. Our courses, including Copywriting, Grammar, Emarketing and Social Media Marketing have run regularly in Edinburgh over the years.
Get in touch with Joan Lyle ( if you’d like to vote for a Marketability course to be brought to Scotland, and we’ll see what we can do.

Publishing Training Centre

Especially strong in editorial skills, The Publishing Training Centre is a very established training provider to publishers and has been a friend (and sometime rival!) of Rachel Maund and Marketability for many years. Today we work together to promote the benefits of all of the training options offered between us.
Rachel delivers the marketing session on their flagship Commissioning and List Management (residential) training programme.

National Book Development Council, Singapore

‘NBDCS is a non-profit, charitable organisation committed to addressing the needs of writers, publishers, storytellers, book suppliers and libraries as well as the reading and literary communities.’
Our original training partner in Singapore – many of Marketability’s courses have been tailored for the region and delivered in Singapore for NBDCS.

Singapore Book Publishers’ Association

The SBPA has 74 members engaged in a wide range of publishing, marketing and distribution activities. It provides information and advice to help them succeed in business both locally and overseas.
Marketability and SBPA have been working in partnership for many years to deliver training in publishing best practice in an AsiaPac and international context.

Australian Publishers’ Association

‘The APA is an advocate for all Australian publishers: large or small; commercial or non-profit; academic or popular; locally or overseas owned.’
It’s a logistical challenge for the APA and Marketability to bring our training all the way to Australia, but it has been done in the past. If you’d love to see it happen again, get in touch with APA and we’ll see if we can make it work out!

CANIEM – Camara Nacional de la Industria Editorial Mexicana

CANIEM is the association of publishers in Mexico, for whom we developed two training programmes in international publishing best practice, which ran in Mexico City in 2006 and then again in 2017.
